On October 25, 2013 Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania V.Zhovtenko participated in the Conference “Trade: New opportunities, new partnerships - or new challenges?” held in the framework of Lithuanian Presidency in the European Council.

The Conference is organized by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), the Confederation of Industrialists and the Association of Commerce and Industry and Craft Chambers of Lithuania.

The key note speakers were Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania R.Krišciunas, MEP L.Andrikiene, EESC Employers 'Group President J.Krawczyk, Director of the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University R.Vilpišauskas and representatives of the European Economic and Social Committee.

The participants of the Conference exchanged views on topical issues of EU external trade policy, discussed progress towards the establishment of free trade areas between the EU and Eastern Partnership countries, analyzed the evolution of Trade Defense Instruments and the Industrial policy of the EU.
