The Ukrainian-Lithuanian consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania on the directorial level were held in Vilnius on 12-13 January, 2012. The Ukrainian side was represented by Mr. Andrii Melnyk, Director-General of the Third Territorial Directorate General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Topical issues of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania and the state of implementation of the Roadmap for Development of the Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Lithuania and Ukraine for 2011-2012 were discussed.
Particular attention was paid to continue broad-ranging co-operation and build up on the arrangements, reached during the visit of President of Lithuania Dalya Grybauskaite to Ukraine in November 2011 as well as other bilateral meetings on the high level.
The sides discussed cooperation between the two countries in the process of Ukraine’s European integration including the subjects of Eastern Partnership program and further liberalization of visa regime for Ukrainian citizens.
Implementation of the Plan of consultations between the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania for 2012-2013 was also on the agenda.
The sides also exchange the views on the international issues of mutual interest, in particular those of security and regional policy.
