On September 17, 2014 Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Valerii Zhovtenko met with Virginija Baltraitienė, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the topical issues of Ukrainian-Lithuanian cooperation in all areas of agriculture. In particular they discussed the implementation of the Action plan on strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture of Lithuania for 2014-2016.

Special attention was paid to expanding Ukrainian-Lithuanian export and import of food products in the context of the free trade area to be created in accordance with Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, which was ratified on September 16, 2014 by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament.
