October 29, 2014 р. the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Valeriy Chaly had a meeting with the Chief Advisor on Foreign Policy to the President of Lithuania Jovita Neliupšienė.
The parties discussed preparations to the 7th session of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania that is to be held on November 24 in Kyiv. Valeriy Chaly conveyed a letter from the President of Ukraine to Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė with an invitation to make an official visit to Ukraine on that day.
"Support of Lithuania, our important partner in the EU and reliable friend who shares common democratic values with Ukraine, is extremely valuable for us in these difficult times. We have great expectations on further efficient interaction with Lithuania in the context of our European integration. Thus, the visit of Mrs. Grybauskaitė to Kyiv will be important for Ukraine," Valeriy Chaly noted.
Jovita Neliupšienė positively evaluated the victory of pro-European political forces in the early parliamentary elections in Ukraine. "Ukraine must efficiently use the trust of the EU through the implementation of necessary fundamental reforms and the Association Agreement," she said.
The interlocutors discussed the situation in Ukraine and the ways to overcome economic, energy and security challenges that endanger stability not only of our state, but also of the region in general. In this context, Valeriy Chaly highly evaluated measures of Lithuanian authorities aimed at ensuring energy independence of their country.
In the course of the meeting, the parties also discussed the possibility of combining the efforts of Ukraine and Lithuania in order to cover the situation in Ukraine in the international media environment more objectively.
