On August 12, 2015 at the consular department of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Lithuania was issued the first passport of citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad with contactless electronic chip (biometric passport).

Registration of biometric passports is provided in the context of implementation of the Action Plan on visa liberalization between Ukraine and the EU.
