On September 08, 2020, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi together with Embassy staff took part in the festivities to celebrate the 506th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Orsha, in which a combined army of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish Kingdom, led by Ukrainian Duke Great Hetman Kostyantyn Ostrozhskyi, defeated an army of the Duchy of Moscow.
As part of the event, a performance of the Honor Guard and the Military Orchestra of the Lithuanian Armed Forces in historical uniform, a festive concert with the participation of famous Lithuanian artists and salutes from historical cannons were organized on the Cathedral Square in Vilnius.
The event was attended by the Minister Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Valdemaras Rupšys, Director General of the Lithuanian National Radio and Television “LRT” Monika Garbačiauskaitė, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Lithuania, in particular, Ambassador of Poland to Lithuania Urszula Doroszewska, Lithuanian military, volunteers and activists, residents and guests of Vilnius.
In his address to the to the audience, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania noted the historic importance of the victory in the Battle of Orsha, which symbolizes the unity of the peoples of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania in the fight for freedom and independence.
