On October 13, 2016 on the occasion of celebrating the Day of Defender of Ukraine in the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Lithuania was held a festive event with participation of the former military servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation at the Eastern Ukraine and have been receiving rehabilitation in Druskininkai, as well as military servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who are training at the language courses in the respective Lithuanian institutions.

The event was attended by the representatives of the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania, the Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania and the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Government of Lithuania, Lithuanian volunteers, activists of Ukrainian community in Lithuania, representatives of the Lithuanian public and political movement “Sąjūdis”, as well as the Embassy staff with the members of their families.

Ambassador of Ukraine Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi addressed to the participants of the event with the greeting speech and congratulated both the Ukrainian military servicemen and Ukrainian Community of Lithuania on the occasion of the national holiday, wished all the good things, peace and harmony and delivered the gratitude letters to the former servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Eastern Ukraine and have been receiving rehabilitation in Druskininkai, as well as to the Lithuanian volunteers.

The meeting continued with informal communication of participants.
