On January 13, 2017 Lithuanian National Radio and Television channel «LRT» held LIVE TV marathon in support of Ukraine "Together to the Victory".
The event was dedicated to the 26th anniversary of Freedom Defenders Day - the tragic events in Vilnius on January 13, 1991. Just in the two-hour charity marathon viewers donated more than 110 thousand euros, the recipient of which was an International volunteer organization «Blue/Yellow», that provides help to Ukrainian military and their families, to children who lost their parents and to local communities that suffer from military actions in these areas of Ukraine.
During the marathon the audience where shown short movies about the situation in the East of Ukraine, famous Lithuanian artists performed their songs. Live broadcast showed recorded appeals of Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė and Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Vytautas Jonas Žukas, the first Chairman of the Parliament of independent Lithuania Vytautas Landsbergis, Head of international volunteer organization BLUE/YELLOW Jonas Ohman, Ukrainian participants of the events of January 13, 1991 in Lithuania and other guests addressed with their speeches to the participants of the charity event.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi participated in event. In his speech he expressed the words of gratitude to the Lithuanian state and its citizens who provided and provide extensive support for Ukraine, stressing, in particular, that relations between the two countries are not only friendly, but fraternal.
