On July 16-17, 2018 the 18th meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Lithuanian Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation took place in Lviv. The Ukrainian part of the Commission was headed by the Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan, and the Lithuanian part - by the Minister of Economics Virginijus Sinkevičius.
During the meeting, the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the spheres of trade, investment, transport, energy security, agriculture, tourism, environmental protection, labor migration, etc., as well as some issues on the development of relations between Ukrainian and Lithuanian business circles, were discussed. As a result of the meeting of the Commission, a number of principal agreements were reached, in particular, on the launch of the "Train of the Four Capitals" project (within which the first such train on the route Kyiv-Minsk-Vilnius-Riga will be launched on September 28, 2018) and the resгьзtion in 2019 direct aviation connection between Vilnius and Lviv. As well, a positive dynamics of the growth of trade turnover between Ukraine and Lithuania was noted. Thus, on 2017 bilateral trade turnover increased by 38,6%, and during 5 months of 2018 - by 25,4% to the corresponding period of last year.
The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude to the Republic of Lithuania for the humanitarian, financial and technical assistance provided to Ukraine, as well as for comprehensive expert support on implementation of reforms, implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
Representative of the Embassy of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania took part in the work of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Lithuanian Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
