On December 7, 2018 the fourth Ukrainian-Lithuanian Economic Forum organized by the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ULIE), the Lithuanian Association of Industrialists and the Ukrainian-Lithuanian Business Council with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Lithuania was held in Kyiv.
The Forum became the largest bilateral event in year 2018 - about 600 representatives of private and state companies, business associations, experts and the scientific community, as well as authorities of Ukraine and Lithuania participated in its work.
The forum was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv and Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania Virginijus Sinkevičius. Both ministers noted the extremely high dynamics of trade and investment cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania in recent years, provided examples of effective cooperation. between Ukrainian and Lithuanian companies, informed about key priorities of economic policy of both countries and outlined the most promising areas of bilateral cooperation.
During the discussions, the forum participants focused on further cooperation in such fields as solar, wind and bioenergy, robotizing of production, use of IT technologies in industry, transport and logistics, discussed the possibility of introducing modern financial instruments for further development of cooperation in trade and investment spheres, exchanged views on ways to improve business conditions and investment climate in Ukraine and Lithuania.
Within the framework of the forum program, the following thematic sections were held:
- cooperation in the field of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources;
- cooperation in the field of transport and logistics;
- IT technologies, robotics in industry (industry 4.0);
- financial instruments.
During the forum, a number of agreements were signed between the business community of Ukraine and Lithuania, in particular, the agreements on cooperation between ULIE, the Association of Solar Energy of Ukraine and the Lithuanian company Global BOD Group, between the ULIE and the Lithuanian Association of Industrialists, between the ULIE, the Kyiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Vilnius Commerce Industrial and Handicraft Chamber, between Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts and Pokrovska (Donetsk region), as well as Poltava cities Councils.
