On September 08, 2019, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi together with Embassy staff took part in the festivities to celebrate the 505th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Orsha, in which a combined army of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish Kingdom, led by Ukrainian Duke Great Hetman Kostyantyn Ostrozhskyi, defeated an army of the Duchy of Moscow.
As part of the event on the slopes of the Vilnius fortress, a demonstration of armaments and military equipment of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and NATO countries, a discussion on the historical topics dedicated to the Battle of Orsha, a performance by the Honor guard company, a festive concert and a salute from historical guns were organized.
The event was attended by the Minister of Defense of Lithuania Raimundas Karoblis, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Lithuania, flag group of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade LITPOLUKRBRIG named after Great Hetman Kostyantyn Ostrozhskyi, Lithuanian military, volunteers and activists, residents and guests of Vilnius.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Ukraine noted the historic importance of the victory in the Battle of Orsha, which symbolizes the unity of the peoples of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania in the fight for freedom and independence.
