On 4 December 2019, a day before the 6th anniversary of inscribing Petrykivka painting on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi and his spouse Roksolana together with a renowned expert in Petrykivka painting Valentyna Panko and the Mayor of Varena District Municipality Algis Kašėta opened an exhibition of V. Panko and her daughter – also a painter Anastasia Chudnivets in the Varena House of Arts. Students of the Varena Creative Centre for Schoolchildren and the Jadvyga Čiurlionytė Art School took part in a workshop on Petrykivka painting conducted by Ms. V. Panko. Ambassador V. Yatsenkivskyi with spouse and painter V. Panko also visited Lina Černiauskienė`s homestead in the village of Kapiniškiai in the Dzukija National Park (Varena district), where they got acquainted with the natural and cultural heritage of one of the most picturesque corners of Lithuania, which continues to be a subject of research by archeologists, historians and culturologists. The residents of Varena and Kapiniškiai were impressed by beauty and vital power of the authentic Petrykivka decorative painting technique from Dnipropetrivsk region, and offered Ms. Valentyna, a daughter of the outstanding Petrykivka painter Fedir Panko, to decorate the Kapiniškiai village residents’ stoves with Petrykivka ornaments.
