On the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, a concert entitled "For Our Freedom and Yours" was held on one of the main squares of Vilnius, uniting Ukrainians and our Lithuanian friends around the struggle and victory.
Ukraine and Lithuania share common values. And goals. Freedom is the greatest value that has historically driven the spirit of the Ukrainian and Lithuanian nations. Lithuania won its freedom and independence in very difficult conditions. Today, Ukrainians continue to defend freedom for ourselves and for others at the highest cost.
During the event, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Petro Beshta presented Minister of Defense Arvydas Anušauskas with one of the highest state awards of Ukraine - the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, 3rd degree. According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Minister of Defense of Lithuania was awarded for his significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and promoting Ukraine.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania noted: "Victory is won at the front by our defenders. Each and every assistance is important to us. The Lithuanian Armed Forces are our close and reliable partner, providing everything from various types of weapons to training and demining. We greatly appreciate Lithuania's active leadership role in the Rammstein process. It is an extraordinary honor for me to present the Order of Yaroslav the Wise to Minister of Defense Arvydas Anušauskas today, on this special day."
Highly esteemed first Head of State in the re-established independent Lithuania, Vytautas Landsbergis, and the Mayor of Vilnius, Valdas Benkunskas, also addressed the participants of the event with welcoming remarks.
We thank the Director of the City Hall, Perlis Vaisieta, for the initiative and organization of the concert - this is a sincere gift to the Independence Day of Ukraine.
We thank the Ukrainian and Lithuanian performers. This joint concert is a real celebration of friendship between our nations through art. We thank all partners and guests of the event!
