Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Petro Beshta gave an interview about the First Global Peace Summit to the Lithuanian news agency BNS.
The main points:
-
We are grateful to Lithuania for its active participation in all consultations on preparations for the Global Peace Summit, its strong support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula and its efforts to involve other states in the Summit.
-
Lithuania has chosen 3 specific tracks of the Peace Formula: energy security, restoration of justice, withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine and cessation of hostilities. After the Peace Summit, we hope for further strong support and concrete steps by Lithuania in these areas.
-
Russia is trying to disrupt the Summit by using blackmail and threats in the economic, energy and food sectors. But it will take place. And this is a joint success of Ukraine and dozens of partners.
-
Together with its partners, Ukraine is debunking the myth imposed by Russia that the Summit is splitting the international community into two groups: Europe and NATO, on the one hand, and Russia, China and the Global South, on the other. However, this is not the case, and the number of participants confirmed proves it.
-
We have already gone through a very serious diplomatic process to consult with most countries. We are confident that this Summit will help to address the key issues of food and nuclear security, humanitarian issues, and then move on to implement all ten steps of the Peace Formula.
