Lithuania stands with Ukraine! On August 24, Ukraine's Independence Day, Cathedral Square in Vilnius shone with the colors of freedom, as Ukrainians, Lithuanians, and all those who support Ukraine's path to victory gathered under blue and yellow flags.
During the event, the attendees were addressed by Viktor Hamotskyi, Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in Lithuania; Marius Vaščega, Head of the European Commission Representation in Lithuania; Tetsu Ozaki, Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania; Emanuelis Zingeris, Deputy Chair of the European Affairs Committee of the Seimas of Lithuania; and Natalija Šertvytienė, Head of the Ukrainian Community in Vilnius. A message was also delivered by Yulia Ovchinnikova, Member of Parliament and Co-Chair of the Ukraine-Lithuania Interparliamentary Friendship Group in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"We are celebrating Independence Day for the third time amidst war. We will celebrate it again after our victory. And Ukraine's Independence Day was, is today, and will be. Ukraine was, is, and will be. No matter how much the enemy and all those on the side of evil may wish otherwise," emphasized Viktor Hamotskyi during the event.
The event concluded with performances by talented Ukrainian artists: Aurora Loboyko, Kateryna Lysak, and Yevheniy Musiyets. To the touching music of Marina Pylypenko, everyone present joined hands to form a symbolic chain of unity. This moment was the highlight of the event, as people, united by a shared belief in freedom and justice, created a living symbol of solidarity and support.
This chain of unity in the square highlighted that regardless of borders, we are all one unbreakable force that stands together against a common enemy and will inevitably prevail.
We express our sincere gratitude to Arkadijus Vynokuras for organizing the 110th rally in support of Ukraine. Also, a big thank you to everyone, who came!
