The potential of the Lithuanian healthcare system in the treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian defenders is much higher than the one currently used. Lithuania is ready to receive Ukrainians and satisfy all applications for rehabilitation.
This was stated by the Minister of Health of Lithuania Arūnas Dulkys during a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk, who is in a visit to Vilnius.
"We are ready to accept more Ukrainians," - Arūnas Dulkys said. He added that the Lithuanian Ministry of Health and the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are planning to implement a project to establish rehabilitation centers in Ukraine.
Last year, 81 Ukrainians who suffered from the armed aggression of the russian federation were treated in Lithuanian hospitals. Further treatment for 400 people is planned, as well as rehabilitation for 1200 people.
Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk thanked Lithuania for the assistance already provided and emphasized that Ukraine now needs, in addition to rehabilitation courses, a large number of rehabilitation specialists and psychological support programs, especially for children.
"Each life saved is an important step towards Ukraine's victory in the war, and the assistance of the Lithuanian Ministry of Health brings us closer to this," - said Olena Kondratyik, Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, at the meeting in Vilnius.
