On May 8, on the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II 1939-1945, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania, Petro Beshta, and the Vice Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Žilvinas Tomkus, participated in a flower-laying ceremony at the Taras Shevchenko monument in Vilnius.

"After World War II, 'Never again!' did not become a reality. We need to make it happen today. Once and for all. So as not to dishonor the memory of our warriors from the past and today. To ensure the strength of our shared principles. I am convinced that we will mark Putin's unconditional capitulation. In his statement, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania underlined that the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht occurred exactly 79 years ago.
Our struggle has been ongoing since 2014, and we will certainly prevail because we are defending our original land and the ability to freely select our destiny. For us, this is a struggle for freedom. civilization, democracy, and European values against the imperial ambitions of a treacherous aggressive neighboring criminal.
Eternal memory to all the victims of the war!
