On 11 September, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov opened the Lithuanian-Ukrainian Defence Industry Business Forum in Kyiv.
In his speech, Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov emphasized Lithuania's key role in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.
‘Lithuania is providing €10 million to finance our long-range capabilities, including the Palianytsia long-range drone missile. This is a significant assistance that will substantially enhance Ukraine's ability to defend itself,’ Rustem Umerov said.
He also expressed gratitude to Lithuania for its leadership in such important areas as the Coalition for Demining, training initiatives for the Ukrainian military, strengthening cyber defense and developing IT technologies.
In addition, Lithuania has already provided Ukraine with assistance equal to 2% of its GDP and plans to support Ukraine annually with 0.25% of GDP.
