On May 18, the streets of Vilnius hosted the traditional procession in embroidered shirts dedicated to World Vyshyvanka Day. The colorful and unforgettable event started at the Cathedral Square and symbolically ended at the monument to Taras Shevchenko in the heart of the Old Town.
The event was attended by Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Petro Beshta, staff of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Lithuania, the Ukrainian community, and many Lithuanian friends who also wore embroidered shirts to express their solidarity and support in the fight against the aggressor.
Vyshyvanka – it’s not just a colored line on the fabric, but a symbol of our national dignity, loyalty to our state, and Ukrainian identity. It has become our armor against the Russian cultural occupation, reminding us of our roots, traditions, and identity. The embroidered shirt is a talisman that carries the strength of the nation and its unwavering faith in independence from generation to generation.
We thank the organizers – the Ukrainian Community of Vilnius, as well as everyone who joined the event!
Thank you to all who defend and fight for Ukrainian identity and freedom!
