Ukrainian Center hosted a large family celebration “Christmas Star”
16 December 2025 15:56

On December 13, the Ukrainian Center – Ukrainos centras hosted a large family celebration “Christmas Star” – an event filled with creativity, light, and a true festive spirit.

We were honored to share this special day with Diana Nausėdienė. In her greeting, she stressed that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Lithuania has been extending its hand to Ukrainians living in the country and sincerely invites them, in every region, to join a full, peaceful, European life, while preserving and nurturing their national culture within the Lithuanian family. Standing together through peaceful living, friendship, and cooperation, Lithuanians and Ukrainians resist aggression and defend freedom, justice, and the principles of coexistence.

During the event, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania, Olga Nikitchenko, noted that because evil came to Ukrainian land, families are forced for the fourth time to meet Christmas and New Year away from home – to meet them, rather than celebrate. Not in their homeland, not together with relatives, without familiar traditions. Yet at the same time – not alone. Every day Ukrainians in Lithuania feel sincere care and support from Lithuanian friends who opened their hearts, sheltered thousands of our citizens, and help restore a sense of normal life.

A special focus of the day was the project “Nazustrich” – an initiative that became a bridge between people, cities, and regions. With the support of the Kazickas Family Foundation, the project brought together talented Ukrainians and Lithuanians from across Lithuania to share their creativity and to be seen and heard. Over several months, the Ukrainian Center organized selection events in Klaipėda, Panevėžys, Visaginas, Kaunas, and Vilnius. The culmination was a gala concert at the Center, where regional winners performed, alongside an exhibition of artworks – paintings, ceramics, decorated clothing, and other creations from different parts of the country.

Guests enjoyed a rich family program – children’s and interactive zones, creative workshops, and a Christmas fair featuring unique items made by Ukrainian artisans. A particularly touching moment was the initiative “Bring a drawing – receive a gift,” through which children donated their drawings for Ukrainian defenders.

We sincerely thank all organizers, volunteers, and partners who made this day possible.

On the eve of the holidays, we especially believe that goodness, peace, love, and justice will prevail. And therefore – Ukraine will prevail as well.
