The week before the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, a meeting of the Board of Governors meeting of this Organization is underway. On September 15, 2020 during the meeting, the delegation of Ukraine made a national statement and confirmed the main approaches of our state concerning present IAEA activity, emphasizing that the responsibility for nuclear safety remains entirely with member states.

Noting the important role of the IAEA as a unique advisory platform for the experience exchange in the field of nuclear safety, the head of the Ukrainian delegation focused on the educational component of this process.

The representative of Ukraine on behalf of the delegations of Ukraine and the United States has also made a joint statement dedicated to bilateral cooperation in combating nuclear smuggling between the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the US Department of Energy.
