On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s independence and Ukrainian National Flag Day, a series of cultural, community, charitable and commemorative events will take place across Lithuania on 22–24 August.
We invite the Ukrainian community, Lithuanian friends of Ukraine and everyone wishing to join us in marking these important dates for our country.
22 August
11:00–15:00 – Family event and concert dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day in Vilnius
The programme will feature performances by the Ukrainian ensembles Zabava and Podolianchyk, traditional borshch, activities for children and adults, as well as an exhibition by Ukrainian artist Anton Pedos.

16:00 – Celebration of Unity marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence in Panevėžys
The programme will include performances by Ukrainian and Lithuanian groups, workshops on making traditional motanka dolls and wickerwork, camouflage-net weaving, as well as Ukrainian and Lithuanian refreshments. The event will also commemorate the Baltic Way.

10:00 – Divine Liturgy and prayer for Ukraine
A joint prayer for Ukraine, its defenders and the Ukrainian people.

12:00 – Ceremonial raising of the National Flag of Ukraine
On Ukrainian National Flag Day, a ceremonial raising of the blue-and-yellow flag – a symbol of Ukraine’s freedom, independence and statehood – will take place at the Embassy of Ukraine in Lithuania.

13:00 – Festive concert dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day
The Ukrainian Community of Vilnius invites everyone to a festive gathering marking the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s independence.

15:00 – “35 United” – charity event dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day
Music, art, community and charity will come together at an event organised by UYGL. Funds raised during the event will support the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

19:30 – Charity football match FK “Žalgiris” – FC “Džiugas”
On the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, a charity football match will take place in Vilnius, with all proceeds from ticket sales donated through UNITED24 towards ambulances for Ukraine.
Admission is free for Ukrainian citizens. Ukrainian children will walk onto the pitch together with players from both teams, while the national anthems of Ukraine and Lithuania will be performed by the Lithuanian Armed Forces Orchestra.

12:00–14:00 – “Happy Independence Day, Ukraine!” – official commemoration in Kaunas
The events will begin at the memorial plaque dedicated to Yevhen Konovalets, Colonel of the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic. This will be followed by a ceremonial procession and an official commemoration at the Vytautas the Great War Museum.

18:30 – Solidarity rally marking Ukraine’s Independence Day in Vilnius
On Ukraine’s Independence Day, we invite everyone to gather in the heart of Vilnius to demonstrate unity and solidarity with Ukraine, support the Ukrainian people and reaffirm our shared belief in Ukraine’s victory and a just peace.
