In Kaunas were held the festive events on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine

On August 24, 2015 inKaunas were held festive events on the occasion of celebrating the 24th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine, organized by the Lithuanian public and political movement “Sąjūdis”, and the Kaunas city municipality.
The event was attended by the Vice-mayor of Kaunas S.Kairis, representatives of both Lithuanian public and political movement “Sąjūdis” and Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, representatives of the community of Ukrainians, as well as Lithuanian society and local media.
The event was also attended by the staff of the Embassy, and Ukrainian military servicemen, who being wounded at the Anti-Terrorist Operation at the Eastern Ukraine and receiving rehabilitation at the medical institutions of town of Druskininkai.
The participants of the festive events sang the Anthems of Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania, observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen for the freedom and independence of Ukraine, and expressed the greeting speeches on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine.
