On December 9, 2016 at the MFA of the Republic of Lithuania was held the public discussion, organized with the assistance of Lithuanian Union of Journalists as a part of the EU initiative “#EU4HumanRights”.

The event was attended by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania H.E. Mr. Linas Linkevičius, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Mr. Nils Muižnieks, Senior Editor of “the Economist” Mr. Edvard Lucas, Chairman of Lithuanian Union of Journalists Mr. Dainius Radzevičius, as well as the members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, diplomats of the Lithuanian MFA, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and the Lithuanian non-governmental organizations.

Participants of the public discussion have discussed, in particular, the modern challenges to the international and regional information security, and exchanged views on the mechanisms of using the freedom of expression for promoting human rights.

On the invitation of the Lithuanian side the event was attended by the representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Lithuania.
