On April 4, a meeting took place at the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania between the Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania, Olha Nikitchenko, and the Minister of National Defence of Lithuania, Dovilė Šakalienė.
The focus of the discussion was on further steps to strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities in countering Russian aggression, as well as Lithuania’s priority areas of assistance in 2025.
The Ambassador of Ukraine expressed deep gratitude for Lithuania’s systematic and unwavering support: defence assistance, participation in international coalitions, treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian defenders, repair of equipment, and training of Ukrainian service members. She also provided the Minister with detailed information on the priority needs of Ukraine’s Defence Forces necessary to protect our state.
Dovilė Šakalienė emphasized that the support for Ukraine from the Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania will remain unwavering. She noted that Lithuania is ready to continue assisting in all possible forms, and that this year, Lithuania’s military aid to Ukraine will amount to 0.3% of its GDP.
The Minister also underlined that Lithuania will continue to firmly support Ukraine on its path toward membership in the EU and NATO.
