On April 10, President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė visited the Embassy of Ukraine in Lithuania to share the sorrow of the Ukrainian people for those killed in Kryvyi Rih and to reaffirm Lithuania’s unwavering support for Ukraine in the fight for freedom and independence.
The Head of the Lithuanian State and the First Lady honored the memory of 20 people, including 9 children, who were killed in a Russian missile strike on April 4, and left heartfelt words of condolence in the Book of Condolences.
“Lithuania shares the pain of loss with the families of the victims. Our hearts and prayers are with the Ukrainian families. May the names of the innocently killed remain forever in the history of humanity, and may their memory live on in our hearts,” the condolence message reads.
According to the President of Lithuania, it is extremely painful to witness the continued killing of Ukrainian civilians, especially small children who could have become the creators of a sustainable, happy, free and sovereign future for their homeland, but instead became victims of a ruthless war.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Olha Nikitchenko expressed deep gratitude to the President of Lithuania, the First Lady, and the entire Lithuanian people for their unconditional and consistent support of our State. She emphasized that this personal gesture – to be present in these days of mourning – is an exceptionally important sign of solidarity, a sign of true friendship, which Ukrainians see, cherish, and will carry in their hearts.
