Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Olga Nikitchenko met with the President of the Association of Local Authorities in Lithuania, Audrius Klišonis, to discuss strengthening cooperation between Ukrainian and Lithuanian municipalities.
The discussion focused on making this partnership more practical and impactful at the local level. Ukrainian communities continue to face serious challenges, particularly in the energy sector, as ongoing Russian attacks on infrastructure leave some regions without electricity and heating for prolonged periods. The importance of inter-municipal solidarity and targeted assistance to partner cities, including energy equipment that directly supports local populations, was underlined.
The Ambassador also conveyed requests from Ukrainian communities interested in establishing new partnerships with Lithuanian municipalities. Ukrainian cities are seeking not only support, but also a structured exchange of practical experience, especially in crisis management, adaptation of public services, and governance under sustained security pressures.
The Ambassador expressed sincere appreciation for Lithuania’s openness to cooperation and its continued support for Ukrainian communities. Such partnership ensures that solidarity between our countries is translated into concrete action at the level of cities, communities, and people.
