On September 20, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Petro Beshta met with Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Andrius Kalindra.
During the meeting, Andrius Kalindra expressed Lithuania's unwavering support for Ukraine in its heroic fight against Russian aggression and shared the Lithuanian government's intentions to strengthen aid for the reconstruction of our country by establishing strategy for further recovery assistance.
Identified priority areas of assistance:
-
ensuring safe conditions for Ukrainian children to study,
-
strengthening energy security ahead of the heating season,
-
rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen,
-
humanitarian demining.
Moreover, Lithuania is ready to bring up the issue of Ukraine's recovery at high-level meetings of the representatives of the G7 countries and other international platforms, and is planning to hold a conference with the participation of the governments of Lithuania and Ukraine.
In his turn, Ambassador Petro Beshta expressed his sincere gratitude to Lithuania for the projects already implemented and informed about the most pressing needs of Ukraine.
The Lithuanian government has successfully completed several important projects: the construction of 36 equipped modular homes for displaced families in Borodyanka, the "Ruta" kindergarten in Irpin, modernization of the energy network in Mykolaiv, full reconstruction of Lyceum No. 1 in Borodyanka, and the renovation of a school in Snihurivka, Mykolaiv region. Additionally, a radiation shelter was opened at Kindergarten No. 9 in Irpin, and the Lithuanian government has provided administrative assistance to Ukraine’s State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development. And this is only the beginning — more than seven new projects are already in the active implementation phase.
Lithuania has once again proved that true friends always stand side by side, even in the most difficult times. The support of the Lithuanian people is tangible not only in words but also in concrete actions. Lithuania is helping us with one of the most important issues — rebuilding the country and supporting those who need it.
