On March 16, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Petro Beshta met with Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Paulius Saudargas.

The discussion was focused on practical issues related to providing Ukraine with effective assistance in countering the ongoing armed aggression. The ambassador stressed the importance of immediate resolving such urgent concerns as a no-fly zone over Ukraine, provision of air defence systems, security of humanitarian corridors, intensification of sanctions pressure and further isolation of the aggressor country.

During the discussion on the current situation in Ukraine, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the Seimas' proactive position in supporting our country since the first day of the Ukrainian-Russian war. In particular, he acknowledged the Resolution of February 24 condemning the Russian-Belarusian aggression against Ukraine and the Resolution of March 10 on granting Ukraine the status of the EU candidate country and its full membership of the EU.
