Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Mr. Petro Beshta presented his credentials to President of the Republic of Lithuania Mr. Gitanas Nausėda
On February 7, 2022, H.E. Ambassador-Designate of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Mr. Petro Beshta presented the Letters of Credence to President of the Republic of Lithuania Mr. Gitanas Nausėda.
During the meeting with the Lithuanian President in the framework of the Presentation of Credentials, the Ambassador of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the Republic of Lithuania and personally to Gitanas Nausėda for the clear and consistent support provided to Ukraine on all relevant issues, most notably in the context of counteracting the ongoing armed aggression.
The Ambassador informed the Lithuanian President on the current security situation at the Ukrainian state border and on the territories of Crimea and part of Donbas, temporarily occupied by Russia, and separately outlined Ukrainian activities and initiatives aimed at resolving the current critical situation with political and diplomatic means.
In addition, significant contributions of the Lithuanian side to the promotion of European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine aimed at acquiring the distinct membership prospect in the European Union and NATO Membership Action Plan was highlighted.
In this regard, it was emphasized that the assistance provided by the Lithuanian side in advancing internal reforms in Ukraine and reforming its national security and defence sector is crucial.
The two sides stated that the current level of cooperation and trust, and the exceptional dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue at all levels correspond to the priorities of strategic partnership defined by the Presidents of Ukraine and the President of Lithuania in the Declaration on the Development of Strategic Partnership between Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania of November 27, 2019.
