On February 11, 2025, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania, Olha Nikitchenko, presented copies of her Letters of Credence to the Acting Director of the State and Diplomatic Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Marius Atroška.
Prior to the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Nikitchenko held separate meetings with Lithuania’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Julius Pranevičius, and the Director of the Eastern Neighborhood Policy Department, Mantas Jakimavičius.
Olha Nikitchenko expressed deep gratitude to the leadership and team of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the proactiveness of Lithuanian diplomacy, effective coordination of Lithuania’s interagency assistance, and its resolute stance in mobilizing the international community for a united response to Russian aggression.
"Lithuanian diplomats are our true friends whom we can always rely on. We do not need to convince them of anything because there is complete synergy between us," noted the Ambassador.
Olha Nikitchenko highlighted Lithuania’s consistent support and strong advocacy for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, Ukraine’s Victory Plan, and the country’s course towards EU and NATO membership.
Lithuanian diplomats emphasized that Ukraine remains a top priority for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
Lithuania’s unwavering support and comprehensive assistance to Ukraine are reaffirmed by the Government’s Program and the resolution of the Seimas of Lithuania dated January 14 of this year, as well as the visits of the Lithuanian Government, led by Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas, and Speaker of the Seimas Saulius Skvernelis to Ukraine on December 20, 2024, and January 20, 2025, respectively.
Lithuania considers Ukraine’s victory, the restoration of its territorial integrity, and the provision of effective security guarantees to be the only acceptable outcome of Russia’s war.
Both Ukrainian and Lithuanian sides share the principle of "peace through strength" in ensuring a lasting, just, and comprehensive peace in Ukraine.
As a result of the meetings at the Lithuanian MFA, further cooperation was agreed upon, particularly regarding the implementation of joint initiatives by the foreign ministries of both countries.
