On June 26, 2020, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Lithuania marked the 10th anniversary of the Crimean Tatar Flag Day with a Crimean Tatar flag hoisting ceremony near the Embassy. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi and the Embassy’s staff, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Lithuania, in particular, the Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Honorary Consul of India. The event was also attended by representatives of the Lithuanian Seimas and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, the State Historical Archive of Lithuania, representatives of the Ukrainian and the Crimean Tatar communities of Vilnius, particularly the Chairwoman of the Ukrainian Community of Vilnius Natalia Shertvitiene, the Chairman of the Union of Lithuanian Tatar Communities Adas Yakubauskas, Lithuanian Muslims Muftiat kadi Konstantin Selimovych. Participants of the event held banners "Crimea is Ukraine" in their hands.
During the ceremony, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania V. Yatsenkivskyi, the Chairman of the Union of Lithuanian Tatar Communities A. Yakubauskas, the Chairwoman of the Ukrainian Community of Vilnius N. Shertvitiene addressed the audience with speeches. The Lithuanian Muslims Muftiat kadi K. Selimovych sang a prayer.
On this day, the State Historical Archive of Lithuania, located in the center of Vilnius near the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Lithuania, has illuminated its facade with the colors of the Crimean Tatar flag in honor of the Crimean Tatar Flag Day.
The tradition of raising the Crimean Tatar flag along with the State Flag of Ukraine was initiated by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Lithuania in April 2016 (https://www.pravda.com.ua/news/2016/04/13/7105331/).
