Ukraine and the Ukrainian people have been feeling the unwavering support of Lithuania in the fight against Russia, a terrorist state, since the first days of the full-scale invasion. On October 13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania hosted a meeting between Lithuanian diplomats and Ukrainian defenders and soldiers undergoing rehabilitation in Lithuania.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Jonas Survila emphasized: "We know what it is like to stand in front of the tanks of an enemy state. In January 1991, Soviet tanks, directed against the unarmed people of Lithuania, were moving through the streets of Vilnius. The Lithuanian people tried to stop them with their bare hands. Keeping this in mind, we are doing our best to ensure that the extremely brave defenders of Ukraine do not have to go through this, that they have everything they need to defend their land and people and to win the victory of Ukraine."
During the meeting, the Ukrainian defenders were presented with Lithuanian flags and asked to raise them together with the blue and yellow flags of Ukraine at the moment of victory over the aggressor.
"Your fight is our fight. When you win, we will celebrate it together with you, and the Lithuanian and Ukrainian flags flying side by side will become a symbol of our common victory," the Ministry emphasized.
The rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen at the Dr. Jonas Basanavičius Military Medical Service Rehabilitation Center has been carried out since 2014. Over this time, almost 350 Ukrainian defenders have undergone rehabilitation here.
