The Holodomor is one of the tragic events in the history of not only Ukraine, but also the world history of the early 20th century, which has no statute of limitations and is not to be forgotten. The famine was the price paid by the Ukrainian people for their desire for freedom.  

According to the established tradition, today, at the Monument to the Victims of soviet occupation in Vilnius, together with Lithuanian colleagues and friends, colleagues from the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Lithuania, the Ukrainian community, teachers and students of Ukrainian schools in Vilnius, Ukrainians temporarily residing in Lithuania, we paid tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of the Holodomor - the genocide of the Ukrainian people. 

Just like 90 years ago, russia is using hunger as a weapon today. It is once again stealing grain from Ukraine. russia sells this grain on the world market, earning money to further finance its war of aggression against Ukraine. 

Hundreds of millions of people in Africa and Asia are suffering the consequences of the destruction of Ukraine's agricultural infrastructure and the blockade of Ukrainian grain exports. 

"Today, Ukrainians are giving their lives not only for the freedom of Ukraine and Europe, but also for the ability of other nations to put bread on the table. We are fighting against genocide so that this tragedy does not affect anyone else. We are fighting to bring the putin regime to justice for the crime of aggression, war crimes and genocide," said Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Petro Beshta. 

Ukraine highly appreciates the solidarity and support of the fraternal Republic of Lithuania in condemning the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, Ukraine is also grateful for the recognition of russia's current inhuman crimes in Ukraine as genocide and the call for the establishment of a Special International Criminal Tribunal to investigate them.
