On November 22, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted Resolution No.10275 on the Statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, in which it noted all the parliaments that have joined the recognition of such a crime as genocide of the Ukrainian people during this period.
The statement is aimed at drawing the attention of parliaments and governments of the world, international organizations, and the entire international community to the crime of genocide against the Ukrainian people.
By this Statement, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine:
- Honors all citizens who endured this horrific tragedy, when artificially created famine was used as a weapon of mass destruction against the Ukrainian people;
- Once again condemns the criminal actions of the totalitarian regime of the USSR;
- Expresses deep gratitude to the foreign states and international organizations that have recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine as an act of genocide (28 states in total, as well as the Baltic Assembly, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe)
- Recognizes the large-scale Russian armed aggression against Ukraine as a continuation of Russia's genocidal imperial policy, which aims to persecute Ukrainians for their desire to build a modern successful democratic state and be part of the United Europe;
- Once again calls on international organizations and parliaments of the world to restore historical justice and recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as a crime of genocide against the Ukrainian people, which will be an important message to those political regimes that want to resort to new acts of genocide, as well as a significant contribution to ensuring a peaceful and secure future for the coming generations.
