On the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine, a special screening of the documentary film "20 Days in Mariupol" was held in Klaipeda, Lithuania. The screening was held with the support of the Klaipeda County Ieva Simonaityte Public Library.
The screening was opened by Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Petro Beshta and Director of the Klaipeda County Ieva Simonaityte Public Library Laura Juchnevič. The event was attended by representatives of the Lithuanian public, the Ukrainian community, and Ukrainian citizens temporarily residing in Lithuania.
"The Ukrainian city of Mariupol has become a symbol of resistance, a symbol of resilience. This film refutes any attempts of russian propaganda to blur the reality: the material was shot by the Associated Press team, the last journalists who remained trapped in the city surrounded by russians and continued their work despite the constant threat of death every minute," said Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Petro Beshta in his welcoming speech.
The film "20 Days in Mariupol" was created by director Mstyslav Chernov, photographer Yevhen Malolietka and producer Vasilisa Stepanenko. They were the last journalists to stay in Mariupol at the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and they recorded the beginning of the destruction of the Ukrainian city by the aggressor country.
During his visit to the Klaipeda County Ieva Simonaitytė Public Library, Petro Beshta handed over books about Ukraine to the library's collection and presented the head of the library with the gratitude of the Embassy of Ukraine in Lithuania for holding important cultural and public events in support of Ukraine and helping temporarily displaced citizens of our country in Lithuania.
We thank all visitors for their participation! We thank everyone who spreads the truth about this war, about the bravery of our people, and the pain of our people!
