On April 14, the 137th Monday Solidarity Rally in support of Ukraine took place in Vilnius. This day was dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives – Lithuanian volunteer Tomas Valentėlis, who died fighting for Ukraine’s freedom, and Ukrainian artist Maryna Polovynko, who went to the front as a medic to save lives – and gave her own.
We also honored the memory of the victims of the tragedy in Sumy. On Palm Sunday, a Russian ballistic missile struck residential neighborhoods. 35 people were killed, including children. More than a hundred others were injured.
Addressing those present, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania, Olha Nikitchenko, emphasized:
“Having failed to achieve strategic gains on the battlefield, Russia wages war on the civilian population, killing daily and blatantly violating international law. Putin once again shows that he does not seek peace. His goal is to spread fear and destroy our shared values.”
The Ambassador also stressed the need for even more decisive action and even greater pressure. “Air defense systems available to the free world must work for peace. The acceleration of Ukraine’s integration into the EU and reliable security guarantees for our country are essential,” she noted.
We express our sincere gratitude to Arkadijus Vinokuras for organizing the Monday rallies in support of Ukraine.
We thank everyone who stands with Sumy, with Kryvyi Rih, with all the cities and villages of Ukraine. Everyone who does everything possible to protect Ukrainians and to strengthen Ukraine.
