On April 15, 2025, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania observed a minute of silence in memory of those killed in Sumy, Kryvyi Rih, and other Ukrainian cities – victims of yet another act of Russian terror against Ukraine’s civilian population.

During the session, Speaker of the Seimas Saulius Skvernelis stated: “Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims, their families, and everyone who suffers because of this tragedy. Russia must be held accountable for these violations of international and humanitarian law, the scale and nature of which are beyond comprehension. This cannot be justified by any, absolutely any, arguments, mistakes or similar statements.”

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Lithuania, Olga Nikitchenko, stood alongside Lithuanian parliamentarians during this symbolic tribute – to personally thank for the sincere solidarity that spoke louder in silence than any speech ever could.
