Every year, on June 26, Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars celebrate the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag, a day honoring the national symbol of the Crimean Tatars, the Indigenous people of the Crimean Peninsula, an integral part of the large Ukrainian family.
Traditionally, the Crimean Tatar flag was flown alongside the national flag of Ukraine at the Embassy of Ukraine in Lithuania.
The Crimean Tatar flag was approved by the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatars in 1917 in Bakhchisarai. The flag is a sky-blue cloth with a golden tamga, a symbol of power, located in the upper left corner near the pole. It embodies the traditions of different generations and unites different eras. For more than 100 years, it has been a symbol of the national identity and cohesion of the Crimean Tatars.
