On February 24, 2025, at the Gallery of Freedom Defenders of Lithuania, located in the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, the opening of the exhibition by Ukrainian photographer Vadym Sarakhan, titled “Lost Home – Hope Among the Ruins,” took place.
This exhibition is dedicated to the third year since the beginning of russia’s full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.
Vadym Sarakhan’s photographs are testimonies of human tragedy and resilience. They tell the stories of those who lost their homes but did not break. Each frame captures the pain of loss, despair, and hope, which emerges even among the ruins.
Opening remarks were delivered by:
Speaker of the Seimas Saulius Skvernelis emphasized: "For three years, Ukraine has been resisting the brutal aggression of the 21st century, fighting not only for its own freedom but also for Europe’s security. The Kremlin spreads disinformation, and our duty is to speak the truth: Ukraine is defending itself on legal grounds, and Western support is a strategic necessity."
Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Olha Nikitchenko, thanking Lithuanian colleagues and representatives of the diplomatic corps for their support and solidarity, stated:
"We firmly believe that this war must—and will inevitably—end with Ukraine’s victory, ensuring that Russia never returns to our land. This will be a shared victory of our partners, all of us, and the entire free world."
The musical accompaniment for the event was provided by Ukrainian singer Mariia Pylypenko.
The exhibition is held under the patronage of the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Saulius Skvernelis and is organized by the Chancellery of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
The exhibition will run from February 24 to March 28, 2025.
The exhibition can be visited on open-door days – every Friday from 11:00 to 15:00.
We invite everyone to join in honoring the memory of war victims and expressing support for the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom.
