During the visit to the Republic of Lithuania, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, together with the Governor of the Bank of Lithuania Gediminas Šimkus, took part in the presentation of a silver collector's coin dedicated to Ukraine and its struggle.

The Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament expressed his deep gratitude to the Lithuanian people for such a gift and called it symbolic that the presentation of the iconic coin takes place on the day of a great holiday for Ukrainians - the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, such support testifies not only to the historical but also spiritual kinship of both nations, which is expressed in certain symbols, in particular coins issued by our states. "The coin you presented is a pearl of historical relations between our nations. I am grateful for such a wonderful initiative and, of course, for the artistic aesthetic embodiment, because in fact, the combined fate of our peoples is engraved here," Ruslan Stefanchuk commented on the meanings embedded in the artistic image of the coin.

He stressed that the vitis and trident depicted on the coin embody the common history of our countries. "It contains a very important message of today - "Ukraine is fighting for freedom". And everyone who buys this coin will buy a certain message: "Ukraine has won its freedom"," the Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine stressed in his speech.

"And we do not plan to stop: early next year we plan to issue a commemorative coin of 2 euros - "Together with Ukraine". The funds raised will also be used to support Ukraine. In addition, it will be a circulating coin that will be used as a means of payment in the euro area, carrying an important message for the whole of Europe," Gediminas Šimkus said.

He also stressed that the collectible coin presented today was not only 23.3 grams of silver, not only an opportunity to donate for the benefit of Ukraine. It has numismatic value and is a work of art that testifies to the historical events of the present.

"I firmly believe that this coin will be important in the future, when Ukraine will defend its freedom and will prosper as a free, successful country in the family of democratic independent European states", the Governor of the Bank of Lithuania emphasized.
