On the evening of February 24, 2024, the "Radarom!" campaign, organized by LRT, “Laisvės TV”, as well as the organizations “Blue/Yellow”, “Strong Together”, and journalist Rita Miliūtė , ended in Lithuania.
During the crowdfunding campaign, residents of fraternal Lithuania donated more than EUR 8 million 288 thousand, which will be used to purchase more than 1,100 safety kits for Ukrainian soldiers. The campaign was launched in late January. The organizers of “Radarom!” called for donations to purchase safety kits for soldiers fighting in Ukraine. Each kit, worth EUR 7,500, consists of a night vision monocular, a laser sight and an individual anti-drone system. The equipment was manufactured in Lithuania by “Brolis Semiconductors” and NT Service.
This initiative has united the political leadership of the Lithuanian state, hundreds of private companies, dozens of volunteer organizations and the entire Lithuanian people to protect the lives of Ukraine's defenders.
"This is a nation whose men and women are fighting on the battlefield, risking their lives. Their loved ones, fleeing the war, demonstrate extraordinary willpower living here, far away. Our duty is to help Ukraine first and foremost, especially now, when it is particularly difficult, when perhaps some people are losing optimism. We have no right to any political considerations, we have to help Ukraine because today it is an absolute necessity. We have to help, and this is our sacred duty," - said President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda during the final telethon.
The Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen , emphasized: "We are well aware of what Ukrainians are fighting for, we understand that they are preventing the evil coming from russia from invading other European countries. Lithuania must remain determined.
According to LRT CEO Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė, two years ago we realized that this war is not only against Ukraine. According to her, this year we feel heavier in our hearts than in the past, because "the exhausting war not only exhausts the patience of glorious Ukrainians, but also tests our resilience, patience and how determined we are to fight for what is important to us."
Jonas Ohman, Chairman of “Blue/Yellow”, noted that the determination of Ukrainians has not changed, on the contrary, it is only growing. "People better understand that they need to fight for themselves, for their families, for Ukraine. Sometimes, I will not hide, there are elements of despair. Our help from Lithuania and beyond is what motivates them. Not only things and aid are important, but also psychological and spiritual support - we are with you. Lithuania is an absolutely unique country, and I am proud to live here and hold a Lithuanian passport," - Jonas Ohman said.
Edmundas Jakilaitis, head of “Strong Together” organization, emphasized that the first sets have already reached Ukraine and are saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.
We are extremely grateful to the Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT, Laisvės TV, Stiprūs Kartu, Blue/Yellow for Ukraine, journalist Rita Miliūtė, and all those who cared and joined the initiative!
Lithuania is a true champion of support for Ukraine, an example of leadership and consolidation of the entire nation!
